This groundbreaking technology, already having captivated audiences at numerous studio demos and US film festivals, is now ready to amaze the European creative and studio community.
Over a span of two days, Barco is hosting an exclusive showcase of its HDR Lightsteering technology, inviting a wide array of professionals from the film industry. Among the attendees are directors, colorists, studio professionals, and other creative industry representatives who are eager to witness the potential of this transformative technology. As the transition to High Dynamic Range (HDR) is considered a crucial driver for the future of cinema content creation and exhibition, Barco's HDR Lightsteering promises to bring forward a highly scalable, cinema-centric, and viable technology.
The Cannes Film Festival, renowned for presenting new films of all genres worldwide, will host its 76th edition from May 16 to 27, 2023, at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. To coincide with the festival, Barco has established its HDR showcase at the nearby Cineum Cannes theater. Festival attendees are encouraged to visit the showcase during the weekend of May 20th and 21st.
During the showcase, attendees will witness short technical demos led by a professional team of cinematographers. They will elaborate on the profound impact HDR Lightsteering can have on movie-making and present a selection of HDR clips. The afternoons and evenings are reserved for exclusive screenings of full-length feature films that were graded in HDR, following a close collaboration with the directors and validated on the HDR Lightsteering setup.
Barco extends heartfelt thanks to the directors and producers of the four feature films who collaborated in grading their movie in HDR. Gratitude is also due to the colorists and post-production sites for their time and facilities, allowing for the joint creation and review of all clips and movies.
