At the CEDIA Expo 2024, Epson made a major impact by launching its new Q-Series of 4K 3LCD laser projectors.
The series, which includes the QL7000, QL3000, and the ultra-short throw LS800, captured attention for its impressive performance.
As home theater and entertainment spaces evolve, Epson’s new Q-Series projectors were designed to meet the demands of both dedicated home theaters and multipurpose living areas. This new generation of projectors is tailored for high-lumen performance, providing bright, vibrant visuals in spaces with ambient light—something that traditional projectors often struggle to achieve.
Nils Madden, director of product management at Epson America Inc., highlighted that the new lineup “offers a breakthrough in brightness, color, and detail,” allowing consumers to experience unparalleled picture quality whether in a dedicated dark theater or a sun-filled living space.
The Q-Series earned accolades at CEDIA Expo 2024, winning awards for its groundbreaking design and features that push the boundaries of home projection. Epson’s booth showcased the projectors in various real-world applications, from high-end home theaters to modern great rooms, demonstrating how these devices fit seamlessly into diverse home environments.
The QL7000 projector delivers 10,000 lumens of brightness, making it suitable for rooms with ambient light. It is designed to integrate into home theaters and multi-purpose spaces with minimal noise, producing 33 decibels at full brightness. The QL3000, with 6,000 lumens, offers similar features but at a lower price point, making it an option for various residential settings. Both models are designed to be discreet and flexible in different home environments.
The EpiqVision LS800, which provides 4,000 lumens of brightness, is an ultra-short throw option, allowing it to project large, high-quality images in more confined spaces. It’s paired with the SilverFlex Ultra ALR Screen, which optimizes its performance in well-lit rooms.
At the top of the line, the QL7000 stood out for its incredible 10,000-lumen brightness, ensuring stunning visuals even in rooms with high ambient light. Priced at $30,000, this projector is engineered for the serious home cinema enthusiast, delivering premium 4K visuals with unmatched clarity and detail.
One of the QL7000’s most notable features is its near-silent operation at just 33 decibels, even at full brightness. This is a critical feature for home theaters where noise can detract from the viewing experience. Pairing the QL7000 with high-performance audio solutions, such as Bowers and Wilkins speakers and Marantz audio systems, ensures an immersive cinematic experience.
For those seeking premium quality without the highest-end price tag, the QL3000 offers many of the same benefits as the QL7000 but at a lower 6,000 lumens of brightness for $15,000. This makes the QL3000 ideal for both theater rooms and well-lit living spaces. Like its higher-priced counterpart, the QL3000 operates at whisper-quiet levels, producing only 28 decibels, making it nearly undetectable during use.
For those prioritizing space efficiency, the EpiqVision LS800 projector offers a 4,000-lumen ultra-short throw design, capable of projecting up to 150 inches of sharp 4K HDR content. Paired with the Epson SilverFlex Ultra ALR Screen, this projector is perfect for well-lit rooms where traditional projection systems may not be feasible.
A standout feature from the QL3000 demonstration was the 4-Up Multi-Viewer capability, made possible by a collaboration with AVPro Edge. This feature allows users to divide a 180-inch screen into four sections, displaying multiple sporting events or game screens simultaneously in 4K resolution at 120 FPS. This multi-screen feature elevates the experience for sports enthusiasts and gamers alike, making the projector ideal for immersive media rooms.
In addition to the technical achievements, Epson has placed an emphasis on aesthetic customization. Users can personalize their projector with various finishes for the top covers, allowing it to blend seamlessly into a room’s decor. During the Expo, Epson even demonstrated custom covers featuring Shaquille O’Neal and USC branding, showcasing the projector’s versatility in both performance and appearance.
Epson hinted at future advancements, including the possibility of a motorized periscope lens, offering even more flexibility for installation. This kind of forward-thinking approach shows that Epson is committed to continuing its leadership in home projection technology.
