August 28, 2024 - Novato, CA – Grimani Systems has introduced a new audio technology called the Reflectance™ System. This exciting system is designed to change how we hear sound in media rooms and home theaters, especially in rooms with big video displays or video walls.
The Reflectance™ System is made to improve how we hear people talking in movies and shows. Usually, center speakers sit below or behind the screen, which can make it hard to hear clearly from different parts of the room. Grimani Systems has solved this problem by creating a system that reflects sound waves off the screen. This creates a "virtual" center channel, so the sound seems to come right from the screen, no matter where you are sitting.
This technology is all about making sure that you hear every word clearly, as well as every sound effect, no matter where you sit in the room. Whether you’re watching a quiet conversation or a loud action scene, the Reflectance™ System delivers sound with crystal-clear accuracy.
The Reflectance™ System uses a special waveguide, which is a device that helps guide sound. This waveguide is placed in the ceiling above the seats in the room. The sound waves bounce off the screen and are directed right into the listening area. This way, the sound appears to be coming directly from the screen.
Grimani Systems shared a video showing a beautiful media room in a California beach house where this system is set up. All the speakers, including those for the center, left, and right channels, as well as others, are hidden in the ceiling. The special waveguide reflects sound off the screen. This setup keeps the room looking neat and stylish while still filling it with rich, immersive sound.
The Reflectance™ System's ability to reflect sound off the screen means there’s no need for visible speakers near the display. The room has a clean look, but the sound still surrounds you, pulling you into the movie or show.
